What is the Dimensional Collection?

Updated by Trish

What does "dimensional" mean?

The Luxy Hair Dimensional shades have plenty of fine, naturally blended highlights and lowlights for a soft, dimensional finished look. Our Dimensional shades are comprised of 3+ colors (a base, a highlight, and a lowlight) that are sectioned very thinly to create a natural-looking multidimensional shade.

Who can wear Dimensional shades?

While you do not have to have highlighted or dimensional hair to wear Dimensional shades, they will blend best for those whose hair color already has a lot of depth and dimension.

Matching vs. Blending

Since Dimensional shades have finer highlights, they do not give as much of a striped "piano key" effect. This makes them a bit more versatile in terms of shades they can be blended with. Just because a Dimensional shade does not exactly match your hair does not mean it will not blend. Instead, choose a shade that matches the overall level and undertones of your hair.

Matching

Blending

Rooted vs. Not Rooted

Five out of eight of the Luxy Hair Dimensional shades are rooted. This means that the root of the extension has a 2.5" root smudge (2" of root and 0.5" transition). Rooted shades offer the opportunity for a more natural, "lived in" look, and make it so you don't have to constantly upkeep your roots for your extensions to blend naturally. We chose 5 shades that we found were usually rooted when our customers' natural hair matched these shades.

What makes the Dimensional Collection different from the Highlight & Balayage Collections?

Our Dimensional shades are comprised of 3+ colors that are finely sectioned for a blended shade with plenty of highs and lows. In comparison, our Highlights and Balayage shades are comprised of two shades only.

Highlights shades do have highlights that start from the root, but are broken into thicker sections for a more traditionally highlighted look.

Balayage shades have highlights that start from the ends of the hair and do not reach the root of the extension. The highlights are concentrated towards the ends for a soft ombré appearance.

Neither Highlights nor Balayage shades have lowlights.

Are your Dimensional shades available in sample swatches?

Yes! We're happy to offer sample swatches to our customers. You can click here to place your order.

Kindly note, these swatches should be used for color comparison purposes only and are not offered in Classic or Seamless as the base of the weft is not included.

Can I cut the Dimensional extensions shorter?

Yes. Like all of our extensions, our Dimensional sets can be cut, trimmed and layered. Since the highlights travel the entire length of the hair strand, trimming will not affect the overall shade of the extensions.
