How do I choose the right color of Dimensional extensions?
About Dimensional Shades
How do I match my hair to the right shade?
While you do not have to have highlighted or dimensional hair to wear Dimensional shades, they will blend best for those whose hair color already has a lot of depth and dimension. When selecting a shade, choose one that matches the overall level and undertones of your hair. Look at the overall color: is it a deep brown with honeyed highlights? Is it buttery blonde with sandy lowlights? Does your hair share these traits?
Matching vs. Blending
Since Dimensional shades have finer highlights, they do not give as much of a striped "piano key" effect. This makes them a bit more versatile in terms of shades they can be blended with. Just because a Dimensional shade does not exactly match your hair does not mean it will not blend. Instead, choose a shade that matches the overall level and undertones of your hair.
Matching
Allie's hair matches Dimensional Natural Blonde.
Blending
Aurora's hair blends with Dimensional Natural Blonde.
Rooted vs. Not Rooted
Five out of eight of the Luxy Hair Dimensional shades are rooted. This means that the root of the extension has a 2.5" root smudge (2" of root and 0.5" transition). Rooted shades offer the opportunity for a more natural, "lived in" look, and make it so you don't have to constantly upkeep your roots for your extensions to blend naturally. We chose 5 shades that we found were usually rooted when our customers' natural hair matched these shades.
