Luxy Hair Halo® FAQs

What is the Luxy Hair Halo®? How does it work?

Our Halo® hair extensions may be considered a "one-and-done" method to achieve longer, fuller hair. With a bit of practice, the Halo is simple enough to apply for everyday wear in just a few minutes. Halo® hair extensions sit on top of your head using a nylon wire that is custom fit to your head size. There are four clips on the large Halo® weft placed about 3cm from each other to ensure a secure fit.

Our 20" Halo® (180g) hair extension comes with a 10" wide weft that is 140 grams of hair. It comes with two bonus 2-clip Seamless wefts (20 grams each) to help blend in the hair that frames your face. The weight of the Halo® hair extension and two 2-clip wefts is 180 grams. Our 16" Halo® (140g) hair extension comes with a 10" wide weft that is 110 grams of hair. The two bonus 2-clip Seamless wefts are 15 grams each. Our 12" Halo (150g) hair extension comes with a 10" wide weft that is 120 grams of hair. It also comes with two 2-clip wefts that are 15 grams each.

What are the benefits of a Halo?

  • Make life easier - Instantly thicker and longer hair in a matter of seconds.
  • No commitments - Halo® hair extensions aren't permanent, so you can put it in and out of your hair yourself whenever you want.
  • Save money - No regular salon visits! Say goodbye to expensive and time-consuming appointments re-applying permanent extensions.
  • No risk - They do not cause any damage to your natural hair. This means you can continue to grow and maintain your hair in the meantime.

Do Halo® hair extensions come with a tester weft?

Yes, Halo® hair extensions have a tester weft stored in the top compartment of the box.

Are Halo® hair extensions made of human hair?

Halo® hair extensions are made of 100% human remy hair. Remy hair is considered to be the finest quality of human hair because the cuticles are kept intact and not stripped, like in most other non-remy hair extensions. Preserving the hairs' cuticles and aligning them in a unidirectional fashion creates extensions that are completely natural in appearance. This process ensures that the hair remains super soft, shiny, silky and mainly tangle-free throughout its lifetime.

How do I choose between Clip-In and Halo® hair extensions?

While both Clip-In and Halo® hair extensions deliver the same beautiful results, the main difference lies in the difference in application techniques. For example, do you enjoy spending extra time on your hair or are you looking for a quicker solution to longer, fuller hair? Do you enjoy wearing your hair in different styles such as ponytails and updos or do you enjoy wearing your hair down for the most part? At the end of the day, it’s all about personal preference and what works best for you.

How do I apply the Halo®?

Applying the Halo is fast and simple, but can take some time to really master! For a detailed breakdown, please click here.

Application instructions can be found in the video below.

Wire Breakdown

I have an adjustable wire
If your Halo included an adjustable wire, your wire size can be adjusted to the perfect length for your head. When applying your Halo for the first time, please follow these instructions to adjust your wire to fit your head and Halo set correctly.
I have multiple Halo wires in different sizes
If you have multiple wires, your Halo will have some with 7 nylon wires in different sizes. Be sure to choose the correct wire size, otherwise, your extensions may sit too low or too high on your head. As a rule of thumb, the Halo® hair extension should sit comfortably around the crown of your head.

Does the Halo® hair extension wire hurt?

No, the Halo® hair extension weft does not hurt or cause damage to your hair as it is a stretchy wire. You will feel added weight on your scalp, however, this will not cause you any discomfort as the weight of the weft is evenly distributed across the crown of your head. Luxy Halo® hair extensions are lightweight and super comfortable!

How does the Halo® hair extension wire not show?

Since the Halo® hair extension wire is thin and clear it's virtually undetectable in your hair! You'll also add a layer of hair over the wire to conceal it. Below is a photo of our friend Alexa wearing her Chestnut Brown Halo® hair extension for reference. You're welcome to check out her full transformation on our Instagram page here.

Our helpful hack is using root touch-up spray on the wire over your middle part line, so that it may be hidden even more in this area.

Will Halo® hair extensions blend with my hair?

Halos are best for those who have below shoulder-length hair, have a thin or medium hair type, and tapered or layered natural hair (not bluntly-cut). We do not recommend the Halo® hair extensions for those with short hair or thick hair, as you will need more wefts and hair to create a seamless blend. For this, you may want to consider a Clip-in set.

Our 20" and 16" Halo Collection is best suited for hair that is past the shoulders in length. The 12" Halo is best suited for hair past the shoulders, up to 12" in length.

Is it possible for the Halo® hair extensions to slip/fall out?

No, the Halo® hair extensions will not slip or fall out of your hair if applied correctly. This is why we added the four clips on the large Halo® weft for added security if needed. After you apply the Halo® hair extension, the weight of your hair laying on top will also help keep it in place. You can whip your hair back and forth without any worries of the extensions falling out!

Can I do ponytails/updos using Halo® hair extensions?

Halo® hair extensions are suitable for half up half down hairstyles, low ponytails and low buns. For higher hairstyles or high ponytails, a clip-in set may be a better fit.

Are there any different care instructions for Halo® hair extensions?

We recommend being extra cautious when brushing over the wire of the Halo® hair extension to avoid snagging. Just like with our Clip-In extensions we advise you to care for your Luxies with love. We recommend checking out this helpful blog post that covers all of our extension care tips and tricks.

Do Halo® hair extensions damage your hair?

No, Halo® hair extensions are a non-damaging way to add instant length and volume to your natural hair.
